Assassin’s Creed III Hidden Secrets DLC Bug Wiping Save Data

Ubisoft has announced that it is working on a fix for a rather nasty bug that cropped up in Assassin’s Creed III following the release of the Hidden Secrets DLC.

The bug in question is causing players on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to lose their main mission or side mission data. Gabe Graziani, community developer at Ubisoft Montreal, advised players on the game’s forums not to load up a saved game while downloading the DLC.

“Just a quick heads up, we’re able to reproduce this issue at the studio and are working on a fix/workaround,” he said. “From what we can tell, this problem seems to be rare and should generally only affect a very small number of players. That said, we’re taking the speedy and complete resolution of this very seriously.”

“AVOIDING THIS BUG: Do not load your saved AC3 game while the DLC is downloading in the background. This appears to be the key trigger for this bug. You can do anything else you want to do, just don’t load up your saved game and play it while the DLC is downloading.”
