Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD, an HD-updated rerelease of last year’s Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation for PlayStation Vita, will arrive on the PlayStation Network for PS3 January 14, 2014, Sony and Ubisoft announced today.
Set in New Orleans between 1765 and 1780, Liberation tells the tale of Aveline, a female Assassin of French and African descent. The HD update will introduce additional content beyond prettifying the once Vita-exclusive Assassin’s Creed, including 15 new missions specific to Aveline’s Personas (Assassin, Lady, Servant).
Aveline will also appear as a playable character in PS3- and PS4-exclusive content for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which adds three missions starring the hero of Liberation. The story for her missions will be written by Liberation’s writer Jill Murray, and will pick up after the events of Liberation.
Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD launches on PSN January 14. Its Xbox 360 and PC release dates have yet to be formally announced beyond a loose “early 2014” window. For more on Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD, check out Ray’s review of the original Vita version.
