A new Assassin’s Creed mobile game is on the way, Ubisoft, in partnership with PlayNext and GREE, announced today.
Assassin’s Creed Memories is a free-to-play offshoot that will blend elements from card battlers, RPGs, and strategy games and sees players visiting both eras familiar to fans of the franchise(Renaissance Italy, Colonial America) and brand new, yet-to-be-revealed regions. Players will be able to customize their own personal Assassin and choose allies from the different eras they visit with their “portable Animus” to help fit their play style.
“The card battle genre has been hugely popular around the world and GREE and PlayNext have demonstrated their know-how and expertise on such games,” Jean Michel Detoc, managing director of Ubisoft’s Mobile Division, said in a press statement. “With such expertise, we really believe they’re bringing a great new way to enjoy the richness of the Assassin’s Creed universe to mobile players.”
The game will feature single-player and a multiplayer mode that supports up to 20-versus-20 player battles. There’s been no word yet on how Memories will monetize off the free-to-play model.
Assassin’s Creed Memories is set to launch sometime later this summer on all iOS-supported devices.
