THE BUZZ: Yesterday, we brought you the news that Assassin’s Creed: Revelations looked likely to get stereoscopic 3D support on the PlayStation 3. Today, Ubisoft officially announced that that will indeed be happening—but not just for the PS3.
According to Ubisoft, Revelations will be playable in 3D on the three major platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. As well, it won’t just be people with 3D HDTVs who can enjoy the game this way—Revelations will make use of TriOviz’s Inficolor 3D technology to also bring 3D to those with standard televisions. (A pair of Inficolor glasses will obviously be required if you want to go that route.)
3D support for the PC version of Revelations, meanwhile, will require a set-up with NVIDIA 3D Vision support.
EGM’s TAKE: I’m not the biggest fan in the world of this push for 3D, but for those who do enjoy the option, I’m glad that they’re getting more gaming options. I’m also interested in this TriOviz Inficolor stuff—having never used it, I wonder how convincing the 3D is, and if it really does reduce the amount of color distortion over other similar solutions.
Anybody out there tried the Inficolor glasses? Any opinions on them?
