The logo for Assassin’s Creed: Rising Phoenix, a supposed Vita spinoff game, can be spotted in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, iGo Gaming reports.
For anyone holding out on ACIV’s next-gen or PC versions, you may want to stop reading and slowly walk back out of this post—what follows probably constitutes spoilers to some degree.
According to iGo Gaming, contained with the security areas of Abstergo Entertainment accessible after sequence 6 is a a Rising Phoenix decal found in the corner of one room (seen below). The image contains the same exact logo font and design as the image that popped up on All Games Beta earlier this year, in March, but with a different background image (or what appears to be a different angle of the same bunker-like facility).
Ubisoft offered no comment about the title when pressed about it, but Rising Phoenix turned up again on Spanish retailer XtraLife.es as a standard priced PlayStation Vita game.
Of course, given the meta-nature of Abstergo Entertainment in Assassins’ Creed IV (AE is a Montreal-based videogame developer that apparently made Assassin’s Creed III and Liberation, since you can find copies within the game), it could be a fictional construction in the same vein as the Final Fantasy XXVII poster that appears in the Square Enix–published Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is out now for PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. Black Flag will launch for the PS4 and Xbox One on November 15 (November 29 in Europe) and November 22 respectively, and arrive for PC on November 19 (November 22 in Europe).
