Atlus CEO teases three new game releases

Posted on July 29, 2014 AT 11:07am

As part of a recent interview with Famitsu, Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka teased not one, not two, but three new games. Let the fun speculation begin!

“We’ll be able to announce ‘that title’ soon, I think,” Hiraoka said in the interview with Famitsu (as reported by Japanese gaming website Game Jouhou. If you ask me (and many others), “that title” more than likely refers to the game Altus recently teased with a photo of a piece of broccoli, a website featuring a gigantic tree, and the letters “2 D X”. As to what that could be referring to, where I in Las Vegas, I’d be sliding all of my chips onto the space marked “Etrian Odyssey II remake”.

“Currently, we’re starting development on a title that will come out three years from now,” Hiraoka continued. “At the same time, we’re also working on a brand new title, similar to Dragon’s Crown or Catherine.”

No guesses on my part as to what the first game could be, but Hiraoka’s second comment no doubt means that Atlus is working on a title that’ll be a brand new IP for them—something I’m always up for.

Hiraoka also goes on to talk briefly about the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. He says that, as game makers, Atlus won’t be ignoring the systems, and will of course be putting development effort toward them.
