Over the weekend, news came out that Awesomenauts’ publisher was filing for bankruptcy—throwing into the question the game’s release. Thankfully, it seems the title won’t become a casualty of the event.
ftp entertaiment—the Germany-based publisher of Awesomenauts—announced yesterday that the company had filed for insolvency, the European equivalent of bankruptcy. That put into serious question the game’s release this week, but today Sony officially announced that Awesomenauts will still coming out as part of tomorrow’s PlayStation Store update, and that the game will still be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
As well, Joystiq got confirmation from Awesomenauts developer Ronimo that the planned XBLA release date of May 2nd is still also scheduled to happen.
So, bad news for ftp entertainment—but great news that Awesomenauts won’t suffer as a result of what’s happened.
