Some loose-lipped folks in Italy may have let the secret slip a little early, but last week at Bandai Namco’s Global Gamers Day in Las Vegas, the company confirmed that Project X Zone 2, the second entry in Monolith Soft’s massive crossover strategy-RPG, will release this fall on the 3DS in North America.

As part of the reveal, Bandai Namco unveiled 20 characters who’ll appear in Project X Zone 2?considering the original game featured more than 60 entrants from various Bandai Namco, Sega, and Capcom franchises, there’ll certainly be a lot more than just those shown at the event, though. Right now, it’s a mix of characters seen in the first game and some fresh faces.

Here’s everyone revealed so far: Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine from Resident Evil: Revelations; from Resident Evil 6, Leon Kennedy; from Yakuza: Dead Souls, Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima; Dante (old-school version) and Vergil from Devil May Cry; from Sakura Wars, Erica Fontaine and Ichiro Ogami; Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima from Tekken; X and Zero from Mega Man X; Akira Yuki and Kage Maru from Virtua Fighter; Kite from .hack and Haseo from .hack//GU; Strider Hiryu from Strider; Hotsuma from Shinobi; and Natsu from SoulCalibur V.

Unfortunately, Bandai Namco didn’t have the game available for hands-on sessions at the event, nor was anyone from the development team at Monolith Soft available for interviews to discuss Project X Zone 2, so there’s no word on how?or if?issues many players had with the first game will be improved with this second entry. However, Bandai Namco did say that we’ll find out more details about the game at E3, so expect an update come mid-June.

Until then, let the massive flurry of fan speculation begin. For now, enjoy this screen of Project X Zone newcomer Leon Kennedy laying the smack down in-game alongside returnees Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.
