E3 2018’s big reveals came and went, and one game that was conspicuously absent from the hoopla was Batman: Arkham developer Rocksteady’s rumored Superman game.
Rocksteady co-founder Sefton Hill recently took to Twitter to respond to fans who were disappointed by the developer skipping E3, confirming that Rocksteady is indeed working on something, just not that it’s a Superman game.
Hi all! I wanted to share a quick message from me and the Rocksteady team… pic.twitter.com/dlzIrACfcR

I could read into this tweet more if I wanted. Like, I could say that Hill acknowledging fans’ “passion for our next project” clearly recognizes the high levels of anticipation for a Superman game. I could also say that Rocksteady wanting to “deliver a game that you will be proud of” also means that the developer is quite aware of the fans wanting to play as the Man of Steel.
But I’m not going to say any of that because, frankly, I’m tired of having my heart broken.
At this point, I’m calling a personal moratorium on all Rocksteady Superman rumors, especially if they’re coming from 4Chan. I at least have enough self-respect to stop putting myself through this kind of emotional torture. I think I always knew deep down that Superman wouldn’t show up at the Microsoft press conference or be the July Game Informer cover. I just didn’t want to believe it.
Until Rocksteady releases more than just a cake, I’m done. Get someone else to write your Superman rumor stories, Josh.
