Batman: Arkham Origins Teaser Image Suggests Mr. Freeze Story DLC Coming

Batman: Arkham Origins’ first story-driven DLC looks to revolve around Mr. Freeze, a screenshot teased on the game’s official Twitter account indicates.

Last week, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment tweeted an art deco image that read “Save the Date” for yesterday, December 31, 2013. That morning, another art deco invite was tweeted cordially inviting readers to the Humanitarian of the Year Awards at Wayne Manor (black tie required). Following that, early this morning, was the image seen above (in full below)—the Wayne Foundation Humanitarian of the Year award backed by a jagged spread of ice. And, really, there’s only one dude who deals with ice when it comes to Batman: Mr. Freeze. (Yes, I realize the DC Universe has like, several ice-related villains. I’ve seen the animated films. But I think even Ray would agree that Mr. Freeze is the ice guy.)

It’s worth noting, courtesy of a cursory Wikipedia research field trip, that in Batman: The Animated Series, Mr. Freeze was introduced in the episode “Heart of Ice,” which centered around Mr. Freeze trying to get revenge on Gothcorp CEO Ferris Boyle by confronting him at the Gothcorp Humanitarian Party. Ferris was Victor Fries’ employer, but when he came to put an end to Fries’ experiments to save his terminally ill wife, a struggle ensued that inadvertently caused Fries to be exposed to chemicals that left him unable to survive outside of subzero conditions.

And now I’m Ray, writing Wikipedia entries about comic book characters in a news story.

So yeah. Looks like (but not yet confirmed) Mr. Freeze DLC is coming to Arkham Origins in 2014. Happy New Year.
