The Dark Knight Rises Hitting iOS, Android Phones This Summer

Posted on June 15, 2012 AT 01:38pm

Most of you probably don’t need to be reminded that The Dark Knight Rises is premiering on July 20th, but Gameloft and DC Comics are bringing an iOS and Android-exclusive tie-in game to smartphones “this summer”.

Overall, the trailer is very generic, with Batman punching and kicking some hapless goons in the rainy streets of Gotham City.

There’s also no sign of Catwoman or Bane, so who knows if this takes place before, during, or after the film.

It’s interesting that DC Comics licensed another “Nolanverse” Batman game, given that The Dark Knight was entirely skipped for every gaming console. By contrast, Batman Begins was the last film given a full suite of video games on PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and mobile phones, with the console titles taking an emphasis on Batman’s use of fear tactics.
