Battlefield 3: Close Quarters is now available to download for all Battlefield Premium subscribers, giving Xbox 360 and PC owners a chance to play the new expansion two weeks before general release.
Close Quarters will go on general sale starting June 19 on PlayStation 3 and June 26 for Xbox 360 and PC. The DLC features four new maps, two modes, ten weapons and ten assignments. Premium will set you back $49.99 and offers the following:
- All Five Expansion Packs with Early Access
- Stand out with Exclusive in-game items
- Powerful New Features
- Exclusive Online Double XP Events
- Insider Tactics from DICE
Many will draw comparisons between Premium and Call of Duty‘s Elite service. The major difference is the amount of time between content releases on each platform. EA is only making fans wait two weeks at most to access the DLC, whereas Activision leaves months between Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Two weeks is a perfectly acceptable time frame, and this is one of the major reasons that fans have been more accepting of Premium than Elite.
Activision could learn a thing or two from how EA has handled Premium.
