Today, February 6, a patch has been released for the PlayStation 3 version of the game that will fix the VoIP issues. Meanwhile details have began to surface in regards to what the next multi-platform patch will fix.
Mortars have been a thorn in the side for many players since the game’s launch, with enemies able to set them up in spawn and become unreachable. DICE has stated this “will be fixed in next patch.”
M-COM Defender ribbons are also due a tweak as they are near impossible to achieve in Rush mode. Senior Designer Fredrik Thylander mentioned that “m-com defender and m-com attacker are easier to get in the next patch.”
Finally the USAS-12 shotgun will be receiving a nerf to bring it in line with other shotguns.
EGM’s TAKE: FPS titles are a constant balancing battle, when one item gets fixed another becomes too weak or powerful. This is where cool thinking and good timing come into play for developers. Keeping everyone happy is nearly impossible, however DICE has done a pretty good job with balance in Battlefield 3 and fans don’t have too many complaints. These recent changes reflect the team’s commitment to the game and keeping the player base happy. Many PlayStation 3 players will be delighted that the ViOP issues that have plagued the game since beta, have finally been fixed.
