Battlefield 3 Native Resolution On Consoles Revealed ‘Almost HD’

THE BUZZ: Battlefield 3′s official resolution on consoles has today been revealed by Dice.

The game will run at an almost HD resolution of 1280×704 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 according to Dice Rendering Architect Johan Andersson. He wrote in a tweet;

“#bf3 is 1280×704 on both PS3 and 360. Removing a few lines from 720p saves good performance and memory for us,”

According to Andersson the drop in resolution is due to 8 black lines at the top and bottom of the image which he claims will remain unseen due to display overscan.

EGM’s TAKE: I’m not worried by the game not displaying natively in full HD as previous rival Call of Duty games haven’t and they never failed to impress.
