Battlefield 4‘s Battlelog will use tablets and smartphones as a second screen during gameplay, allowing users to use it as a dynamic mini-map or to access stats on the fly, according to a new trailer for the service.

According to producer Oskar Gabrielson, the team wanted to make full use of smartphones and tablets during gameplay, and Battlefield 4‘s Battlelog allows them to do that. Players will have the option of logging into Battlelog from anywhere to check out what there friends are up to and decide on loadouts for when they get home.

The second screen can be used as a mini map while playing, giving players the ability to set attack points for their team. Finally players will be able to use their smartphones / tablet to view and change their current server.

Battlefield 4 is set to release October 29 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. A next generation release has also been confirmed. You can check out the trailer below.
