DICE has finally rolled out a beta version of the highly requested Squad Join feature for Battlefield 4 on consoles, allowing players to enter a squad before joining a multiplayer match.
Squad Join Beta allows up to five players to enter a squad before a match begins. Then the squad can join a multiplayer match together, ensuring that they all get placed on the same team. Once in a match, the squad will stick together across games.
“We would like to add that Squad Join Beta is the first iteration of the feature,” the developer wrote. “We will continue to add features and tweaks based on your feedback and comments, and are aiming to release the next version of Squad Join when Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth arrives this summer.”
To join as a squad, simply select “Squad Join Beta” from the multiplayer menu. Form here, you can either join an already active squad or create your own. If you leave a squad you can easily rejoin via this menu, as long as there is a free slot.
“As mentioned, this is the first iteration of Squad Join and other features for it are planned, with the first major update coming within the next months (a more exact date will be communicated later),” the developer added. “In this multi-release process, we are working on features like managing party members, and making Squad Join available for all game modes.”
Squad Join beta is currently only available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on base Battlefield 4 maps across Conquest, Team Deathmatch, Obliteration, Rush, and Domination game modes.
