Battlefield 4 will tout the series’ “most personal weapon customization ever,” according to a post on the Battlefield blog.
Battlefield 4 boasts more than three times the number of weapons, accessories, and accessory slots than its predecessors—something the blog post says is a direct response to fan feedback.
“To give you a brief example of the vast amount of weapon variety you’ll get in Battlefield 4, let’s multiply the number of customization options you have on a single assault rifle,” reads the post. “With everything from optics, other accessories and camos, you’ll end up with more than 240,000 variations—and thats for one single weapon in your arsenal!”
To help players sort through all this, DICE decided to include and in-game guide that appears on the right part of the screen. The guide displays various weapon stats, such as damage, accuracy, hip fire accuracy, range, and stability, to help players figure out what stat mix jibes with their personal style.
A new option debuting in Battlefield 4 is the ability for players to “zero” their rifle scope, allowing them to calibrate the weapon to compensate for bullet drop from long range shots. A 40x zoom scope has also been added to the accessory list.
Battlefield 4 launches on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 October 29 in North America, November 1 in Europe. The PlayStation 4 version drops November 15 in North America, November 29 in Europe, and the Xbox One version will be available November 22.
