Battlefield: Bad Company 3 and Mirror’s Edge 2 have both turned up on various LinkedIn profiles, suggesting that they may both be currently in development at DICE.
One user, Michael Joseph C., claims that he “provided video game prototype, design and demo feedback on various AAA titles including the Battlefield: Bad Company 3, Dead Space 2, Devil May Cry 5 and other unannounced titles”, between 2009 and 2011.
An ex-EA software engineer states that he worked on Mirror’s Edge 2 between July and August 2009, implementing “the wandering of crowd system within the Unreal 3 engine.” A second ex-employee implemented “new gadgets and interactive features” into Mirror’s Edge 2, including “leaderboards” and a “mini-game embedded into the story”.
Neither game has been officially announced, however both EA and DICE have stated on several occasions that they would love to bring the Mirror’s Edge series back. With no recent listings to go on it’s hard to know whether the projects have been postponed, cancelled or are still in development. Maybe EA will shed some light on one of them at E3, but that’s wishful thinking.
Do you fancy a return to the troop of Bad Company or free-running on rooftops again?
