The action of Battlefield V‘s official Gamescom trailer has no chill. On the contrary, the end of the trailer is on fire.
Battlefield V‘s recently teased Devastation of Rotterdam trailer doesn’t have much in the way of actual gameplay, but it does supply us with fresh looks at maps that spread across Europe and Northern Africa, as well as reveals of new weapons and vehicles. Most intriguing, however, is what comes at the very end of the trailer. From the air, we see soldiers surrounded by an encroaching ring of fire. While this could be from one of the game’s single-player War Stories, it is more likely that it is our first look at the game’s yet-to-be-detailed battle royale mode. The ring of fire presumably serves as the mechanic that decreases the map size, like the storms in Fortnite Battle Royale or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
Gamescom 2018 will run from August 21st to August 25th in Cologne, Germany. With Battlefield V playable at the show, more content from the shooter will assuredly surface soon.
Battlefield V is slated to launch October 19th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Early access unlocks on October 11th for those that are subscribed to EA/Origin Access, and October 16th for those that pick up the Deluxe Edition. A second closed alpha is now live for the game, but once again, it is exclusive to PC.
