Battlefield V‘s Gamescom 2018 trailer gave us a ton of information about more of the game’s maps and, most notably, our first glimpse at the fiery new battle royale mode. But one important piece of information was missing from the trailer itself: vehicle customization won’t make the grade at launch.
Developer DICE revealed that Battlefield V won’t launch with vehicle customization in a blog post (via VG 24/7) following the trailer’s debut. Unfortunately, the post didn’t indicate when specifically vehicle customization will unlock, just that it will come “after launch.” DICE hasn’t made any statements about player customization, so we’re assuming that it will launch with the game.
Vehicle and player customization all fit under Battlefield V‘s The Company banner, which is, as far as we can tell, a menu where players can customize their characters and vehicles as presets before heading into a match. The Company is one of the more mysterious aspects of the game, since it hasn’t shown up in the closed alpha or trailers yet. Thankfully, DICE plans to illuminate this feature more at Gamescom 2018, starting with a trailer that’s scheduled to debut tomorrow, August 21st, and 9 a.m. PT.
Most players will be able to get their first crack at the game on September 6th when the open beta launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you pre-ordered the game, you’ll get two-day early access starting on September 4th. The beta will include Conquest on Rotterdam and Grand Operations on the Arctic Fjord map.
