Battlefield V will expand on Battlefield 1‘s Operations mode with Grand Operations, according to the recent live reveal.
Like Operations, Grand Operations will span over the course of several maps that are tied together based on actual historical significance. However, unlike Battlefield 1 Operations, which tasked an attacking team with capturing points and a defending team with stopping the attackers, Battlefield V‘s Grand Operations will include multiple game modes over the course of one match.
Grand Operations will take place over four fictional days. It sounds like some matches will start with players dropping in via parachute for the first time since Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Objectives will include destroying enemy artillery in a Rush-style mode to capturing points in Breakthrough, which sounds like standard Operations. Interestingly, it sounds like player lives will carry over from day to day. It sounds like a mix of Operations and Call of Duty: WWII‘s War mode, just on a much larger scale.
In addition to Grand Operations, the live event also revealed that 64-player Conquest will return, as well as the introduction of a new co-op mode called Combined Arms and the return of single-player War Stories.
Battlefield V will launch on October 19th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
