Bethesda Trying to Convince Microsoft to Drop Online Fees for The Elder Scrolls Online

Posted on August 28, 2013 AT 04:19am

Bethesda wants Microsoft to drop the requirement of an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play The Elder Scrolls Online.

To play Zenimax Online’s MMO on Xbox One players will require a subscription to The Elder Scrolls Online and an Xbox Live Gold subscription. So players will be paying twice to play the game.

“We have been in talks with Microsoft about that very thing, and seeing whether or not there’s any room to change their minds about that, for folks who are only playing The Elder Scrolls Online and don’t want to pay for an Xbox Live Gold subscription, just to pay for the Elder Scrolls Online,” Bethesda Softworks marketing manager Peter Hines told OXM.

“The answer right now is that’s the way it works, but it’s something that we’re aware of and we keep pushing on, to see if there’s something that can be done.”

The Elder Scrolls Online is set to release in spring 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
