Bethesda Game Studios has three new projects in the works, and two of them are “even bigger” than Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and Doom.

Executive producer Todd Howard spoke with Glixel about the studio’s current projects, and though he couldn’t give many details, he revealed that the lineup consists of two “classically” Bethesda games and one mobile game.

“We’ve got a good number of projects on the go,” Howard said. “We’re bigger now and we do want to be putting out more stuff. We have two larger projects that are more classically the scale of what we do, but even bigger… I can’t talk a lot about them, but I can say that they’re bigger than anything we’ve ever done.

“They’re a bit different, but definitely in the wheelhouse that people are used to from us.”

It’s been over five years since the release of the last Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim, and according to Howard, millions of people still play daily. That sets an incredibly high bar for the two new Bethesda-style games to beat.

The mobile game will also be something new and “unique,” though the studios is also drawing on the lessons it learned creating Fallout Shelter.

“[The success of Fallout Shelter] was a huge surprise to us… We’ve got—what—75 million players now?” Howard said. “The one takeaway was that the game is somewhat unique, so for the thing we’re doing next we wanted to continue to do that. We need to not look too hard at what’s working well for other people. The game we’re doing is a very different style game, unique in the space. There isn’t something else we’re looking at for style.”

Bethesda isn’t the only company branching out into mobile gaming. Nintendo’s recently released mobile Mii, Mario, and Fire Emblem games, with more on the way. As Howard says, though, Bethesda intends to take its new mobile game in a different direction.

Todd Howard didn’t reveal any details on when we can expect these new games, though we’re sure to hear more later if the new games are truly bigger than the Elder Scrolls and Fallout.
