Beyond: Two Souls Launch Trailer Prepares You for David Cage’s Ellen Page Simulator

Posted on October 8, 2013 AT 11:52am

Coinciding with the launch of David Cage’s latest attempt to innovate interactive storytelling, developer Quantic Dream and publisher Sony have released a new trailer for Beyond: Two Souls.

The video, which is embedded below, is cut like a movie trailer—something that’s rather appropriate for a game largely inspired by cinema and starring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe—though without the appropriate amount of voice over/dialogue interweaving throughout it.

Beyond represents a step forward in terms of how stories are told and how developers can blur the line between games and cinema,” Sony Computer Entertainment Europe product manager Ross Alexander wrote in a post on the PlayStation Blog. “It’s a truly  unique experience—with gripping performances delivered in full performance capture by Ellen and Willem, unparalleled cinematic presentation, and a powerfully emotional and thrilling story which branches based on your successes and failures.”

Beyond: Two Souls is now available exclusively for PlayStation 3 in North America. To find out of Alexander’s hype is actually on the mark or just typical marketing hyperbole, check out Josh’s Beyond: Two Souls review.
