Big Deals Going On For Nintendo 3DS

THE BUZZ: If you’ve been thinking about picking up a 3DS but haven’t yet, now might be the time.

This week, a number of retailers are having some pretty great deals on the system. First up is Target, who is offering a $50 gift card to anybody who purchases a red, black, or blue 3DS at its standard $169.99 price from December 8th until the 10th.

Best Buy is running pretty much the exact same promotion: Buy the 3DS (in the same color choices) by December 10th, and you’ll get a free $50 gift card. Best Buy is also running a “Buy 2, get 1 free” offer on games $29.99 and up, meaning you could pick up the 3DS, get the gift card, and then use it to get some games for your new handheld.

Last buy not least, Toys R Us will give you a $40 gift card and a Mario-themed bobble head stylus with the purchase of a 3DS. However, there’s one part of this deal that is even sweeter: if you pick up the Rose Metallic 3DS (which is exclusive to TRU), for that same $169.99 and valid for the same gift card offer, you’ll also get a bundled copy of Nintendogs + Cats. So, a pink 3DS, a game, a stylus, and a $40 gift card all for $170. TRU is also running a deal on games, so to go along with your shiny new 3DS, all 3DS games are good for a “buy 1, get 1 50% off” deal.

EGM’s TAKE: Not having a 3DS myself just yet, I’ve got to say that these are some temping offers, as all of these deals will basically get you a 3DS for $120 or lower. I also have no hesitation in saying that I would totally go for that pink 3DS if I was going to take up one of these offers.

You know… because of the free game, and stuff. Obviously not because I want a pink 3DS. Or something.
