The announcement was made at a Destination PlayStation event yesterday in Arizona. Sadly no release date for the title was announced.
EGM’s TAKE: Games have gone rather quiet on the 3D front over the last few months. Is it time to acknowledge that once again another fancy and expensive technology is doomed for failure? 3D frequently crops up, appearing in the 80s, 90s even the early 2000s, and every time it faded away quietly. The technology just has too many problems to be viable. It’s expense is one major barrier, as no one wants to shell out for a 3DTV when they have just upgraded to HD, and then there’s those glasses. Until 3D technology similar to the 3DS is manufactured on a large scale it will remain a niche.
Finally figure there’s around 10% of the population that can’t even see 3D and those susceptible the nausea and headaches, and a large portion of 3D’s market is gone. Maybe in a few years, when the technology is more affordable and new ways of implementation are discovered, it may succeed, but for now we think it’s time to quietly show it the door.
Do you like 3D being added to games? Is it just a fad? Leave your thoughts below.
