Dragon Age

We knew that the next Dragon Age was in the works, but it sounds like production is moving along on the follow-up to the excellent (and well-received) Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Creative director Mike Laidlaw appeared on the 1099 podcast recently and announced that “something is happening with Dragon Age,” though he couldn’t divulge any details about what we can expect from the game, or when we can expect to play it.

The last we heard the next Dragon Age was still in the pre-production stage, but it sounds like BioWare is getting ready for production. Laidlaw that the Dragon Age team is currently “hiring a lot of people,” and a quick scan of the BioWare Edmonton job page lists a bunch of openings for animators, artists, and programmers.

Laidlaw also has some interesting things to say about the follow-up to Jade Empire, one of BioWare’s early games on the original Xbox, mostly that it’s “still possible” we could see a sequel, specifically citing the recent unveiling of Beyond Good and Evil 2 fourteen years after the original game was released.

While it sounds like the next Dragon Age game will be a full, triple-A follow-up to Inquisition, we’re still waiting for Dragon Age Tactics.

Michael Goroff has been gaming for almost three decades. He's a lover of all games and systems, but he mostly plays Xbox. That being said, if he's a fanboy, he's a fanboy for the game industry as a whole. Spit white-hot fanboy hate at him, trash talk his Gold II rank on Rocket League, or maybe just send him a cordial hello on Twitter @gogogoroff.

BioWare all but confirms the next Dragon Age is on the way
