BioWare has today announced a new feature that will be coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic in patch 2.1 called “Collections.”

This new feature is basically a way of tracking everything you have collected in the game from Cartel Packs and promotions. However, that’s not all it does! Collections allows you to duplicate any Cartel item you wish to, to use with your companions completely free. Fancy a Revan mask for your companion? Then this is your answer–all duplicates will be bound, so no crazy money making schemes allowed.

There’s also another neat little trick added in Collections. Players can pay a small Cartel Coin fee to unlock any Cartel item they own for all characters on their account. Pay the fee and you can have a Revan Mask on all your alts simply by dragging it out of your Collection. The fee will vary depending on the rarity of the item.

Finally this new feature allows you to re-acquire any Cartel item you have destroyed. Don’t fancy carrying around all those little fluff items? Destroy them and you can drag them back out of your Collection to use again at any point completely free.

Collections will be added in patch 2.1, called Customization, alongside the Cathar, armor dyes, and character re-customization. You can head over to Crystal Dreams to read a short Q&A with BioWare on this new feature.
