Priestly first took to BioWare’s forums to respond to quieries about headshots in Mass Effect 3 and whether they could actually destroy heads:
“Ok, just for posterity (and since I tweeted this a week ago or so), yes some headshots can destroy the heads of the target.”
Next up he addressed questions regarding Kinect support for the PC version of the game, now that Microsoft is officially supporting a PC version of the hardware:
“Sorry, voice command is an (Xbox 360) Kinect exclusive.”
“Kinect for Windows was developed separately. We made ME3 for Kinect on Xbox 360.”
EGM’s TAKE: Heads getting destroyed by headshots seems very Gears of War to us and doesn’t really fit into the Mass Effect world, however fans love seeing heads explode so BioWare appears to be catering to them. Hopefully the feature won’t be overused during fights, because when every enemy loses their heads it becomes a little mundane. The lack of Kinect support on PC was pretty obvious due to the game already being quite far into development when the peripheral was announced, and adding support would have mean rewriting code from the ground up. Something that just wouldn’t be feasible.
