In a move away from the norm, BioWare has announced the official release date of patch 2.1 and the previously unannounced patch 2.2 for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
The announcement has been made to calm a large portion of subscribers down who claim that patch 2.1 contains no content whatsoever and is simply a way of leaching more money out of the player base. The developer has revealed that patch 2.2 will contain plenty of new content and is due within the eight week content cycle that they promised.
Patch 2.1: Customization is set to release next week on May 14 and will be followed by patch 2.2 on June 11–exactly eight weeks and two days after the release of 2.0: Rise of the Hutt Cartel.
“What that means is that even though I can’t yet tell you what is in Game Update 2.2, you are getting two Game Updates within that period,” said Eric Musco, community manager for BioWare. “I will say this: Game Update 2.2 has no new Cartel Market features… Also, both of these Game Updates will come with the usual bug fixes, quality of life improvements, etc. which you have come to expect (reference the patch notes for more info).”
As an added tease Musco wrote, “PS – The Gree Enclave wanted me to pass on that they will be returning soon…” Could it be next week with the release of 2.0? That would certainly give players some content to enjoy alongside their new customization options.
