BioWare Looking to Beef Up Dialogue System in Dragon Age: Inquisition

Posted on July 19, 2013 AT 02:56pm

According to a PAX Australia attendee posting on the BioWare forums, the studio is looking to take their trademark dialogue system to the next level in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Speaking at PAX Australia, lead writer Patrick Weekes mentioned how he felt that Mass Effect‘s dialogue options boiled down to picking the blue or red option to win. For Inquisition, Weekes wants more elements at play influencing dialogue options, such as player stats, companions present, or previous dialogue option choices. Weekes also acknowledged fan backlash about Dragon Age 2‘s dialogue paraphrasing. Part of the writer’s goal in Inquisition is to create dialogue options that all feel “right,” but jibe with a player’s worldview or philosophy.

Dragon Age: Inquisition was unveiled during E3 2013 with the trailer embedded below. The game launches on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 fall 2014.
