BioWare has begun testing its high-population server technology for Star Wars: The Old Republic, presumably to prepare for the upcoming free-to-play switch over.
According to the developer this new tech will allow it to significantly increase current server populations, which will come in handy when people come flooding in after the F2P switch over and should prevent any server melt downs. To prepare BioWare has opened a new server in its public test area and copied every single character from East Coast servers over to it.
If you wish to test out the new tech all you have to do is download the PTS and log-in to your newly copied character. This mass copy tech, if successful, may also be used in future patch testing.
