THE BUZZ: Holmade Games has now released Bit of War, an 8-bit God of War “demake” free for PCs everywhere.

EGM’s TAKE: Ah, demakes—the fan community’s response to remakes, where instead of making a game bigger, better, and more beautiful, you take a current-generation game and remake it old-school style.

Will Sony let Holmade Games’ God of War demake survive? Given that it’s so, so different than what players expect from God of War, that it probably isn’t stepping on the toes of any plans Sony has, and it’s free, I wouldn’t be worried about Bit of War being pulled just yet.

And, at the very least, it has God of War series creator David Jaffe pretty excited, as evident by his Twitter feed:

“An 8 bit GOD OF WAR?!!? Wha?!?! This is amazing!!!”
