Black Friday Brings Xbox 360′s Biggest Week of Sales Ever
Posted on November 29, 2011 AT 01:43pm
THE BUZZ: Black Friday 2011 brought a lot of deals on the Xbox 360, and a lot of people wanting to take advantage of such deals—even to the point of pepper-spraying fellow shoppers.
Today, however, we learn just how good of a week it was for Microsoft’s beloved console. The company revealed that 960,000 Xbox 360s were sold just in the U.S. alone—800,000 of which were sold within one 24-hour period of time. (No doubt the point from end of the day Thanksgiving to end of the day on Black Friday.)
This makes last week the best week ever in the history of the Xbox 360 in terms of console sales.
As well, Microsoft also revealed that more than 750,000 Kinect sensors were sold, either alone or as part of a bundle.
EGM’s TAKE: I’m going to reveal to you something shocking that we have now learned from this news release: People like the Xbox 360. I know, it’s surprising! But it is the truth; numbers don’t lie.
Seriously though, Microsoft wanted to be a big name in the world of video games, and now they certainly are. Now to see what happens with the next generation of systems, given that the long-standing video game curse seems to say that the hardware that ends up on top in one generation is destined to fall the next.
