In the world of fan-created mods, Black Mesa is likely one of the longest-running projects around. But the remastered version of the original Half-Life is actually wrapping up production, and has a bonafide release date.

According to the countdown clock on the official Black Mesa website, the game will launch on September 14th.

Black Mesa lead operative Carlos Montero made an announcement on the group’s community forum, where word quickly spread to a collection of gaming forums and all over Twitter.

So far, the Half-Life remake has been in production since 2004, with some people claiming the whole thing to be vaporware. But when this updated game is out, the Black Mesa website, wiki, and forums will get a retrofit.
