Call of Duty

Update: Comcast Xfinity will be handling Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s upcoming multiplayer beta in the same manner that it offered up Call of Duty: WWII‘s beta last year (via VG 24/7). Xfinity customers in the U.S. can get beta codes by logging into the Xfinity portal, which will instantly grant a code for your preferred platform without the need to preorder.

Black Ops 4‘s multiplayer beta starts first on PlayStation 4, running from August 3rd to August 6th. A second beta will go live the following weekend—August 10th through August 13th—when it will be available for all three platforms. Xfinity’s promotion opens up on July 27th, and can be used to get codes for any beta date, as long as it’s for the appropriate platform.

Original Story: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s multiplayer beta has been confirmed for an August launch window, with a chance to play it even earlier, courtesy of Comcast.

Comcast Xfinity is currently holding a sweepstakes in which Black Ops 4 fans from one of eight cities can win the opportunity to be invited to an Xfinity Store to play the game early. The news release announcing the sweepstakes confirms the game’s multiplayer beta to drop sometime in August for the general public, but winners around Washington D.C., Boston, Philadelphia, Houston, Seattle, Chicago, Indianapolis, or Atlanta can check it out starting sometime in mid-July.

Players can register to win the early-access opportunity on the official Xfinity website. Comcast’s Mark Cruz states in the news release that around 40 participants are expected to win, with double that amount likely to attend considering the +1 invitation. This is a continuation of Comcast’s support of esports and Call of Duty specifically, following on from the company’s promotion last year that brought the Call of Duty: WWII beta to Comcast subscribers without the need of a preorder.

Times and dates for this year’s promotion will vary.

The public release window for the beta was leaked as August late last month. This would suggest that the other details included in the leak are accurate as well, such as the beta being private for all platforms except PC. Other platform users will have to preorder or win Comcast’s sweepstakes if they want to get their hands on the game early.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is slated to launch October 12th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. In other Black Ops 4 multiplayer news, publisher Activision recently confirmed that all of the game’s post-launch DLC content will be locked behind the season pass, which did not sit well with the community.
