Blizzard Buffing Diablo III Console Team – Development Starting Up?

THE BUZZ: It appears that Blizzard is currently looking to strengthen its console team for Diablo III. Could this mean that the prototype stage is over?

The team is currently on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineer for console network work. This is in addition to the console team that is already in place at the developer. The person who gets the job will be a “key contributor on the Diablo team” and “responsible for ensuring the best implementation of sophisticated networking systems on consoles.” The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are specifically mentioned in the game advert.

EGM’s TAKE: It has been mentioned many times that Blizzard currently has a console team experimenting and prototyping for a console version of Diablo III. However, it also stated that prototyping is all the company is currently committing to and full production has not been confirmed. Could the fact that the team is looking to expand be an indication that the experiments were a success? You can only deny these things for so long, maybe it’s time that Blizzard let the cat of the bag.
