In a statement issued to Kotaku, Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that they have indeed pressed reset on their WoW successor codenamed “Titan.”
“We’ve always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception,” reads the statement. “We’ve come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game.
“We’re using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes. Note that we haven’t announced any dates for the MMO.”
Yesterday, GamesBeat—citing sources closed to the project—reported that the unnamed MMO had been brought back to square one, and that 30 members of the 100-person dev team had been reassigned to those “other projects.”
So in short, Blizzard’s next MMO: at least three years away, more likely five, question mark probably more realistic.
