THE BUZZ: “In a tiny, trans-dimensional pocket universe sit two dark and terrible gods. One red. One blue. To amuse themselves, they kidnap great heroes from across time and space! And those heroes come from one company: BLIZZARD! These heroes are forced to fight to the death in an endless battle with no purpose… other than ladder points.”
Thus sets up the trailer for Blizzard DOTA, which the company proudly explains is coming soon… ish.
EGM’s TAKE: One of the things I most think about when it comes to Blizzard DOTA is how for years I had absolutely no idea what “DOTA” even was until I finally broke down and went looking on Wikipedia.
For those who are like me, it’s Defense of the Ancients—a custom scenario that was created years ago for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. The game then spawned an entire sub-genre of real-time strategy games, inspiring projects such as this and Valve’s upcoming DOTA 2.
