Blizzard Heavily Invested In Diablo 3 for Consoles

THE BUZZ: Jay Wilson, Game Director on Diablo 3, has revealed that Blizzard has never invested so heavily in console development as they are with Diablo 3.
“We have a really great team, we are starting to fill the team out with new hires and some core members of the Diablo 3 team,” he said in the latest issue of Game Informer. Despite heavily discussing their console plans the team won’t commit to an official announcement regarding whether the game will actually come to consoles. ”We are still in active exploring mode; we haven’t officially announced a product. We say that because we like our product announcements to be a big deal. We haven’t been as secretive about this one because our biggest barrier is actually getting a console team,” he said. ”People don’t believe us when we say we’re going to make a console game. I understand why they don’t believe us, because we’ve tried this before [with the never released StarCraft Ghost -- ed]. We’ve also never invested in it to the degree that we’re doing now, and we’ve never had a product that we felt was appropriate for it.”
EGM’s TAKE: It’s good to see that Blizzard is actively looking into console development for a game with such a hardcore PC fan base. If only they would actually announce something.
