Blizzard seems to be planning something big for the Diablo series.
BlizzCon 2018 is about a month away, kicking off in early November, and Blizzard has released its official event schedule. While the convention is packed full of content for Overwatch, Hearthstone, and World of Warcraft, there’s a surprising amount of events scheduled for Diablo.
Directly after the opening ceremony, in a spot that’s often reserved for big news, is a panel dubbed “Diablo: What’s Next.” This panel comes before the “What’s Next” panels for the other games mentioned above, making it very likely that Blizzard has a big Diablo announcement in store.
This isn’t our only clue that something big and Diablo-related is in store. Earlier this year, Diablo associate community manager Brandy Carmel revealed that Blizzard has “multiple Diablo projects in the works” with “some things to show you later this year.” One of these was likely the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo III, but Blizzard’s job listings show that there’s also a “new, unannounced Diablo project” in the works.
The “Diablo: What’s Next” panel will play at 12:30 p.m. PT on Friday, November 2nd, during BlizzCon.
