Blizzard Issues Security Warning Following World of Warcraft Mobile Armory Hacks

Posted on June 25, 2013 AT 05:13am

Blizzard has issued a security warning following a wave of unauthorized account log-in attempts, which appear to be linked to the game’s mobile armory application.

Access to the auction house via the mobile app has been suspended until the issue is sorted out and all players affected are being contacted via email with instructions on how to reset their account. It appears as if hackers have been accessing player’s mobile apps and purchasing low quality items for large amounts of gold.

“As a result of these activities, access to the World of Warcraft auction house via the mobile app has been taken off-line temporarily. Upon request, our customer support team will restore in-game items and gold for any accounts impacted,” the developer said.
