Blizzard Sells Crazy Number of Copies of Diablo III In Under Three Months

In their earnings call today, Activision Blizzard announced that it has sold an incredible amount of copies of Diablo III in the two and a half months the game has been on sale.
How many? 8.8 million for the period of May 15th until August 1st. When combined with the 1.2 million copies given out as part of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft Annual Pass dead, that’s 10 million copies of the game that are out there.
So, I guess you could call Diablo III a success.
