Blizzard Servers Crumble After Diablo III Launch

Posted on May 15, 2012 AT 06:22am

Blizzard is currently urging players to show patience as it rushes to fix servers after the launch of Diablo III last night.

So many players attempted to activate their copies online that it caused a major slow down and eventually repeated error messages preventing players from logging in and playing. The error message even started to trend on Twitter.

Blizzard released the following statement:

“Please note that due to a high volume of traffic, login and character creation may be slower than normal. If you’re unable to login to the game or create characters, please wait and try again. We’ve temporarily taken our websites offline and launched more servers to accomodate for the traffic. We hope to resolve these issues as soon as possible and appreciate your patience.”

If you were under any illusion that Diablo III isn’t a big deal, then this should certainly change your mind. Not even the mighty Blizzard managed to prepare for the battering its servers received. Everything should be back to full working order by the time you all log-in after work/school today.

Did you manage to get on and play last night?
