Blizzard Set To Offer Relocation Services for World of Warcraft Guilds

Posted on October 26, 2011 AT 01:56pm

THE BUZZ: In the olden days of World of Warcraft, you picked your server, you picked your faction, you picked your character, you picked your look, and that was that. Then, Blizzard decided that players might want to change their minds after a while. It started small, with options such as allowing changes to be made to your favorite character’s hair style. But now? Now we’re in a world where cats and dogs are living together. A world of mass hysteria and chaos. A world where a player can switch their uber-level master of mayhem from one faction—Horde or Alliance—to the other.

Now, the developer will take that one step farther. Blizzard is prepping a similar set of services for guilds, allowing an entire guild—including its structure, guild leader, guild bank, and guild name—to be swapped not only to a different realm, but also an entirely different faction.

Players will be able to follow the guild in its transfer—in order to do so, however, they’ll have to do their own paid character transfer as part of the process.

The realms to first allow for guild transfers are as follows:

  • Agamaggan
  • Alexstrasza
  • Alleria
  • Azshara
  • Baelgun
  • Balnazzar
  • Blackhand
  • Cho’gall
  • Dark Iron
  • Destromath
  • Dethecus
  • Emerald Dream
  • Garona
  • Goldrinn
  • Gorgonnash
  • Greymane
  • Gul’dan
  • Hellscream
  • Illidan
  • Kael’thas
  • Kalecgos
  • Kirin Tor
  • Lightninghoof
  • Maelstrom
  • Malfurion
  • Moonrunner
  • Nazjatar
  • Nemesis
  • Ravencrest
  • Spinebreaker
  • Sargeras
  • Staghelm
  • Stormreaver
  • Twisting Nether
  • Ursin
  • Whisperwind
  • Wildhammer

As for cost, a Guild Master Faction Change will be $40, a Guild Master Realm Transfer $35, and a Guild Name Change $20. For a guild that decides to do both a realm and faction change, they’ll receive a $10 discount.

EGM’s TAKE: Let me just, for a moment, speak on the faction change portion of all of this. Going from Horde to Alliance? I can totally see that, as the people who made the incorrect choice of joining the Horde would want to move over to the winning team. Going from Alliance to Horde, however? I’ve no clue what such an option would even be offered, because that’s just crazy.
