Blizzard Warns of ‘Dangerous Trojan’ That Steals WoW Account, Authenticator Data

Posted on January 3, 2014 AT 04:09am

Blizzard has warned World of Warcraft users of a “dangerous Trojan” that can compromise their accounts even if an authenticator is being used.

According to a post in the WoW support forum the Trojan works by “stealing both your account information and the authenticator password at the time you enter them.” According to support, both mobile and physical authenticator users are at risk.

The Trojan can be located by creating an MSInfo file and then looking in the Startup program section for either “Disker” or “Disker64.” The Trojan can’t be spotted by using the MSInfo file until after it has activated, according to Blizzard support. You can find a list of antivirus software that can currently detect the Trojan here.

If your account has been compromised by the Trojan then Blizzard is requesting that you post your information over on the support forum here.
