Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night producer Koji Igarashi has shared an update on the game that shows off the visual improvements made since the Backer Demo was released last year.
The trailer below shows a scene from the June demo and then compares it to the same scene from the latest build. As you can see, improvements have been made to textures and lighting in the latest build, and it makes a big difference.
“After seeing everyone’s feedback on the Beta Backer Demo, we have been adjusting the graphics, as we mentioned in the previous update,” Igarashi wrote on Kickstarter. “As you have probably seen in the trailer, a lot has changed since the demo. Our main changes came from adding fixes to the current assets as well as revisiting our lighting methods to further improve the game’s overall appearance.”
Igarashi also shared details about two Shards that were shown off recently: Reflector Ray and Invert. The Reflector Ray lets players move through areas as a light ray, while Invert is a Skill Shard that lets Miriam flip the castle at will.
In other news, it was announced back in January that the planned Mac and Linux versions of the game had been canceled “due to challenges of supporting middleware.”
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night launches in summer 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
