Bodycount Dev Thinks Consoles Are Reaching Their Technical Limit

Posted on June 29, 2011 AT 01:56pm

Speaking to Computer and Video Games, Andy Wilson, Codemasters game director for their upcoming title Bodycount, said that he believes the current generation of game consoles has just about reached the limit of what they can do.

When CVG asked if the current generation of consoles are “approaching their technical ceiling”, Wilson said:

“I think [that's] probably fair, yeah. It’s been an unusually long console cycle and it’s going to run on for some time yet.”

Wilson also talked about how hard it is to get games like Bodycount to properly work on the current consoles, given everything they’re trying to do.

“It takes a huge amount of effort to get all of that to even work on current consoles, because it takes sh*t-loads of memory, it sucks up performance out of the consoles like you wouldn’t believe.”
