Borderlands dev announces Battleborn, a MOBA-inspired first-person shooter

Posted on July 8, 2014 AT 10:30am

Gearbox Software’s first new project on PS4 and Xbox One will be Battleborn, a character-focused first-person shooter with an unmistakable MOBA influence, the studio revealed today.

“If Borderlands 2 is a shooter-looter, Battleborn is a hero-shooter,” Gearbox president Randy PItchford said in a prepared statement. “As a genre-fused, hobby-grade, cooperative and competitive FPS exploding with eye-popping style and an imaginative universe, Battleborn is the most ambitious videogame that Gearbox has ever created.”

According to the game’s reveal post on Gearbox’s official website, Battleborn will tout a five-player cooperative campaign and “several different competitive multiplayer match types” that accommodate up to 10 players. More details will be unveiled in the next issue of Game Informer.

Battleborn will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime 2015..
