THE BUZZ: You know how you always wanted to learn more about the world and characters of Borderlands? No? Well too bad, the Borderlands book is coming this Tuesday. The book titled Borderlands: The Fallen will introduce us to Roland, a soldier class, former mercenary who, “makes a living in hell.” The book is penned by John Shirley, and Gearbox has been kind enough to put a 40 page excerpt of the book on their site.

EGM’s TAKE: Well there could be worse franchises to base a book on. Say what you will about this subgenre of books but John Shirley, who also penned Bioshock: Rapture, a prequel to the Irrational Games FPS, did a good enough job and seems to have a good grasp of what works and what doesn’t. No word yet if this book will have randomly generated chapters in it, but one can only hope.
